FA, SP. Students consider social studies content and pedagogy for children from Pre-K through grade 6. Knowledge development will focus primarily on the political and economic threads of the social studies. The inquiry process and other social studies instructional strategies will be developed with an emphasis on finding quality sources (including children’s and adolescent literature) for children’s exploration of social studies content and issues in the social studies. Through classroom peer teaching and a practicum, participants further develop and demonstrate core teaching practices in their practicum settings. Prerequisite(s): EDUC 103, EDUC 240, EDUC 241, EDUC 243, and EDUC 250. Corequisite(s): EDUC 315, MATH 324, and SCES 310. Not offered in 2023-24.
