EDUC 240 - The Social Context of Education (4) FA, SP. This course guides students in an examination of the social context of schooling, including the interaction and impact of social structures and systems on the educational experiences of individuals and groups. Particular attention is given to the study of race, class, and gender and how social science helps us understand their impact on schools, society, and learners. A biblically-guided understanding of justice helps shape this critical analysis. This course includes a 12-hour project involving field work and centered on schools, communities, and families.
