BCHM 324 - Proteins Gone Awry

(1.5)
SP. Proteins play a multitude of roles in cell structure and function. To understand these roles, this class will go deeper into how the unique three-dimensional structures of proteins arise and influence their roles in catalysis, regulation, recognition, and information storage. Special attention will be paid to protein mutations. Students will develop an enhanced structural, thermodynamic, and dynamic understanding of biomacromolecules and their biological functions. Students will also explore how alternations in structure confer new biological properties on proteins. Prerequisite(s): BCHM 321 . Corequisite(s): BCHM 324L .
