FA, SP. How does chemistry help us understand biological systems? This course is an introduction to the principles of biochemistry in which we focus on the structure and function of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids. The fundamentals of signaling and metabolism and their associated mechanisms of regulation will also be introduced. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 240 or CHEM 242; and BIOL 161. Corequisite(s): BCHM 321L.
