GEO 120 - Earth Systems

FA, SP. This course is an introductory study of physical systems and processes that shape the surface of Earth. Topics include: 1) the physical nature of Earth’s surface based on materials (rocks and minerals), plate tectonics, and the processes that create landforms; 2) the roles and movements of water in the atmosphere, oceans, surface water, and groundwater; and 3) weather components, storms, and climate systems. Understanding of Earth systems is applied to concepts of stewardship and human interactions with Earth’s environments. Not open to students who have completed GEO 151  or GEO 153 . Corequisite(s): GEO 120L .
