The ESL minor prepares students to (1) promote educational equity and the academic achievement of learners whose home language is not English; (2) to deliver instruction in how to speak, read, write, listen, and communicate in English; and (3) to support learners in their acquisition of content knowledge and academic language while they learn English.
Students in the elementary or secondary education program must combine the ESL minor with one of the following majors: Elementary Education, Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space, English, History, Social Studies, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Physics, or World Language.
Students who are not in the education program should complete the English as a Second Language Non-Education Minor .
