BIOL 306 - Advanced Human Physiology and Pathophysiology

FA, alternate years. Physiology is the study of normal body function and pathophysiology is the study of how a body’s function changes when disease occurs. Students in this course will be introduced to the biochemical or cellular mechanisms by which the human body normally functions, the structural and functional changes that occur in diseased states, and the impact of these changes on overall health. Normal function and diseases of the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, hormonal, muscular, neural, renal, reproductive, and respiratory systems will be investigated using a classic organ system approach and case studies. Current research literature will be emphasized. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 206  or BIOL 231 . Corequisite(s): BIOL 306L .
