BIOL 231 - Introduction to Animal Physiology (1.5) SP. An exploration of the physiological function of animals that builds upon ecological and cellular biology concepts and lays a foundation for more advanced studies in the upper-level biology courses. This course focuses on vertebrate physiology and seeks to help students understand how cells, organs, and organ systems interact to maintain homeostasis. Major topics include endocrine signaling, neuronal function, sensory systems, muscle contraction, gas exchange, circulation, and reproduction. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 161 or BIOL 141 ; CHEM 102 or CHEM 103 . Corequisite(s): BIOL 231L .
