Using basic cell and tissue activities as a starting point, this course considers how the various organs and organ systems operate to provide ways of getting, distributing, and utilizing nutrients; excreting waste; maintaining a near constant internal environment despite changes in the external environment; providing movement; allowing both rapid and slower communications between and among these systems; and reproducing the organism. Learning activities will focus on understanding physiology, and will include lectures, problem-solving, and class discussions of scientific papers.
