FIN 201 - Personal Finance (3) SP. Personal finance is a specialized area of study focusing on individual and household financial decisions: How much should I save? How much should I spend? How much should I give?…decisions that impact our future economic well-being. Financial planning is a process of setting financial goals and organizing assets and making decisions to achieve these goals, in an environment of risk. This class will consider financial goals for Christians and will provide information and techniques to help students be good stewards of what God entrusts to them. Topics covered will include: financial planning tools, goal setting and budgeting, tax planning, cash management, consumption and lifestyle choices, credit strategies, charitable giving, automobile and housing decisions, insurance needs, concepts of investing, estate planning and retirement planning. Class sessions will include lectures, presentations by various professionals in these disciplines, video, and group exercises and discussion.
