CHEM 103 - Accelerated General Chemistry (4) FA. A one-semester study of the basic principles of chemistry, this course is an alternative to the CHEM 101-CHEM 102 sequence for students who plan to major in science and have a strong background in chemistry and/or mathematics. This course covers all of general chemistry in a single semester by focusing on the phaseology, chemical structure, energetics, and kinetics of chemical reactions. Additional topics include acid/base chemistry, electrochemistry, and nuclear chemistry. The final exam for this course is equivalent to that for CHEM 102. Laboratory. Prerequisites: a strong background in high school chemistry or an AP Chemistry score of 4/5. Corequisite: CHEM 103L .
