SP, alternate years. A study of selected topics in organic synthesis or physical organic chemistry. In the laboratory individual projects involving multi-step syntheses are carried out based upon procedures found in the literature. All compounds prepared are characterized using spectroscopic methods and other instrumental techniques. Prerequisite: CHEM 242. Corequisite: CHEM 340L. Lab fee: $95. Not offered 2020-2021.
