Faith and Community Leadership Major

The School of Graduate and Continuing Studies offers a BA in faith and community leadership. This course of study equips graduates for leadership roles in their spheres of influence. Graduates will utilize the skills and knowledge to become peer mentors, lead faith formation activities, provide academic tutoring, promote just community development, and advance social service agency effectiveness. In addition to the requirements of the major, students must also satisfy the requirements of the degree-completion program.

Core Requirements


FOUNDATIONS

Community and Commitments: 2 hours

Foundations of Christianity I: 4 hours

Foundations of Christianity II - at least 2 hours

Foundational Writing

Health and Movement: 1 hour

World Languages I: 3 hours

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Complete coursework totaling at least 18 semester hours from at least five of the six Knowledge and Understanding categories, including at least 2 semester hours from each of the following categories: Arts, Oral Rhetoric, Visual Rhetoric; Humanities; Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Arts, Oral Rhetoric, Visual Rhetoric: 2-6 hours
Humanities: 2-6 hours
Mathematical Sciences: 0-4 hours
Natural Sciences: 0-6 hours

CROSS-DISCIPLINARY INTEGRATION

Engaged Citizenship Commitments
