Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Departments and Degrees

This program prepares candidates to teach in special education settings. Candidates earn the K-12 Cognitive Impairment endorsement on the Michigan teaching certificate.

Unlike the Special Education K-12 Major: Cognitive Impairment, BA , program, this program requires candidates to complete another certifiable major or minor.

Candidates choose one student-teaching option:

  • Complete one semester of student teaching in both special- and general-education settings (EDUC 346 ).
  • Complete two semesters of student teaching with one semester in general education (EDUC 346 ) and one semester in special education (EDUC 347 ).

  • If combined with the elementary education birth-kindergarten major, complete one semester of student teaching in special education (EDUC 347 ).
