Economics Major, BA

The bachelor of arts (BA) in economics helps students to develop a clear and logical way of thinking about real-world issues such as unemployment, inflation, taxes, healthcare, poverty, inequality, pollution, crime, and international trade. Students in the program learn to synthesize large amounts of information and to think logically while gaining high-demand skills in problem-solving and communication. They also learn to identify the costs and the benefits of a decision with scarce resources. Students in the program graduate with skills to complement successful careers in a wide range of fields, including finance, consulting, banking, accounting, law, nonprofits, politics, diplomacy, government and public policy. The BA in economics is a broad and flexible program of study. It works particularly well for students who pursue multiple majors or minors, who start the economics major later in their undergraduate careers, or who wish to study economics using an analytical but not heavily quantitative approach.
