Nursing: Nurse Educator Concentration, MSN

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program prepares nurses to practice at an advanced level to lead, coordinate, and manage patient care to promote positive health outcomes by considering the increasing complexities of health care needs and population diversity. This program prepares nursing professionals to advance innovation and to strengthen the leadership needed to improve healthcare delivery. Providing care from a holistic perspective that includes spiritual health, especially from the Reformed Christian faith, is a significant part of the program. Graduate nurses will be prepared to explore the impact of social determinants of health including religion, spirituality impacts on health, and how the Christian faith can guide health practice. 

The MSN program is a fully online program with a few weeks of in-person clinical immersion experience. The MSN students will be required to complete 27 semester hours of courses mapped to the AACN MSN essentials, in addition to 10 to 13 semester hours of specialty courses. There are two concentrations: clinical nurse leader  and nurse educator. In total, 37 to 40 semester hours are required, depending on the chosen area of specialization. Students also are able to take electives/additional courses in other areas such as community health and mental health. Students can negotiate part-time programs of study. Enrollment in graduate-level NURS courses is limited to students enrolled in an MSN concentration.

Certification Requirement: A minimum of 500 total clinical hours are required, of which 300 hours must be in a clinical immersion experience. .
