The data science MS degree is designed to be completed in three to six semesters. The program is suited for students who wish to gain technical expertise in data science in a context that also thoughtfully reflects on the impacts this work has on a wide variety of stakeholders. Graduates of the program will be prepared for a wide range of professional work in the public or private sector.
Students may apply to the program having successfully completed a four-year degree at an accredited academic institution. A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate education is required to be admitted to the program. Students should have completed at least one course in each of calculus, statistics, and computer science (programming), but it may be possible to begin the program while completing these prerequisites.
Completion of the program requires 35 hours of coursework. Up to 8 of these hours may be met through coursework completed as part of another program or at a different institution.
