Life and Career Studies (LCS) at Calvin University engages college students with intellectual or developmental disability in comprehensive transition education. By engaging students through person-centered planning, students have the opportunity to explore various career paths, select courses supportive of career goals, and experience supports designed to enhance life skills competencies. The Comprehensive Postsecondary Education Certificate requires completion of the program requirements, LCS core, and of one of seven concentrations: Arts and Music ; Communication and Commerce ; Creation Care ; Education ; Health, Wellness, and Recreation ; Interdisciplinary ; and Ministry and Human Services . The LCS program serves students with intellectual and developmental disability who desire to expand their independence, learning, and community membership through postsecondary education.

Core Requirements
A minimum of 24 hours of core course work is required.
Community and Commitments - 2 hours
Foundations of Christianity I - 4 hours
Competencies and Skills - at least 5 hours
- ENGL 101 or World Languages 101 course - 4 hours
- at least 1 hour from PER 1XX courses
Knowledge and Understanding
Engaged Citizenship Commitments - may overlap with other requirements
One from each of the following:
- Diversity and Difference
- Environmental Sustainability
- Global Regions and Cultures
