Faith and Community Leadership Major

The ML courses in this major are available only to inmates in the Michigan Department of Corrections. The programs in this department provide training for leaders in the church behind bars. The vocational goals of graduates include leading worship, discipling fellow inmates, mentoring short-term prisoners, reducing violence in prisons, and lowering the recidivism rate. The programs in this department are also appropriate for vocations in society, including careers in congregations, parachurch organizations, community development, and social agencies. In addition to the requirements of the major, students also must satisfy the requirements of the Degree Completion Core curriculum.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Complete coursework totaling at least 18 semester hours from at least five of the six Knowledge and Understanding categories, including at least 2 semester hours from each of the following categories: Arts, Oral Rhetoric, Visual Rhetoric; Humanities; Social and Behavioral Sciences.
