The interdisciplinary minor in classical and medieval studies aims to inspire students both to appreciate and to examine critically the ancient and medieval roots of modern culture. It is a useful introduction to graduate study in any of the disciplines in which Classical and medieval studies play a role (e.g., classics, medieval studies, history, religion, art history, music, modern languages). The minor may be taken in conjunction with any major.
This minor requires a minimum of 18 semester hours. In addition to the interdisciplinary seminar (2 hours), one course must be taken in history, and one in an ancient or modern European language.
The minor in classical and medieval studies is administered by F. Van Liere (Historical Studies). Interested students should consult with him for selection of specific courses for the minor.
