Strategic Communication Major

The Strategic Communication major focuses on the theoretical, analytical, and practical study of rhetoric and communication, emphasizing the analysis of audiences and the effective adaptation and creation of messages for these audiences. Classes teach students to articulate ideas clearly, argue logically, listen carefully, communicate ethically, unify groups of people under a common goal, and analyze and evaluate how communication works in specific contexts. Students discover ways to use the gift of communication as a means of glorifying God, of advocating for what is true and just, and of bridging divisions.

Courses in the major help students develop communication-related “soft skills” employers value, and the program prepares students well for a variety of careers. Strategic Communication alumni choose careers in public relations, advertising, social media, content creation, law, ministry, and education.
