The online Master of Exercise Science offers concentrations in Performance and Sport Science  and Health and Exercise Rehabilitation. The program may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis; the minimum amount of time for completion is 12 months. All students complete seven foundational courses involving essential exercise science knowledge and skills in research and health. Students will complete three additional courses in their chosen concentration that target specific skills in either performance and sport science or health rehabilitation. Although both concentrations may be completed, students receive only one MS credential.

Students who choose the Health and Exercise Rehabilitation concentration will be equipped to help individuals develop achievable and measurable goals, motivate them to improve health in a safe manner, and help them maintain lasting healthy lifestyle change. Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer, which are some of the leading causes of preventable, premature death. The Health and Exercise Rehabilitation concentration will equip students with skills to help individuals make lasting positive changes in health outcomes.

Application requirements include a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, two reference letters, and a personal statement. More information is available on the department’s website.
