English Major: Writing Concentration

All English majors share a common foundation of coursework in linguistics, literature, and writing that effectively anchor learning in the integrated art, craft, and science of language. Students develop skills with which to engage story, practice interpretation, and experience the cultural and historical diversity of language and literature. Student in the Writing concentration choose additional courses focusing on specific genres (e.g., fiction or journalism), audiences (e.g., children or adolescent readers), and purposes (e.g., journalism or business writing).

- three literature courses, of which two must be at the 300 level
- one additional 300-level writing course
- two additional ENGL courses, of which one must be at the 300 level
