Gender-Contracted Courses
On the occasion that a student is not able to take an established course or interim, a student may negotiate a contract with a professor to add the gender-contracted components to a non-gender-focused course.
Minors negotiate a contract in a non-gender-focused class to add a significant and theoretically focused gender component to normal class requirements. Examples of additional components include gender-focused readings, research, projects, papers, or service-learning activities. The student should identify a non-gender course for which the professor is committed to guiding the student in learning gender aspects relevant to the topic. The student should consult with the course professor to agree upon the appropriate additional gender-focused components. The details of the agreement should be approved by the director of the gender studies minor early in the semester.
