The Data Science program prepares students to be “Big Data” practitioners by learning how to distill new insights from large volumes of data. The program is an interdisciplinary mix of Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics and Statistics, plus a domain area (chosen by the student) in which the student can apply his or her computational and statistical skills.

Cognates
(15 semester hours) At least 15 sem. hrs., normally with the same course prefix (e.g., BIOL, BUS, GEO, POLS, etc.) other than CS, DATA, MATH, or STAT, of which at least 6 hrs must be at the 300-level; or an approved combination.
