Program Requirements
Students must choose a principal area of performance: voice, keyboard (piano or organ), or instrument (woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion) and complete seven semesters of study in the principal area. The BME approval jury and half recital must be presented in the student’s principal area of performance. Changes to a student’s principal area of performance must be approved by the music education coordinator and include a BME approval jury in the new area.
Ensembles
Music education majors register for ensembles according to their principal area of performance.
Instrument Principals (other than guitar)
Register for seven semesters from the courses below.
Voice Principals
Register for seven semesters from the courses below.
Keyboard and Guitar Principals
Register for seven semesters from the appropriate choral or instrumental courses below.
By Approval
With the approval of the music education coordinator, music education majors may take up to two semesters of the courses below to meet ensemble requirements.
