An interdisciplinary minor, the Global Studies minor is an integrative program intended to deepen students’ understanding of cultural intelligence and ability to engage across cultural lines both at home and abroad. The Global Studies minor allows students to strengthen their linguistic abilities in one or more foreign languages, and learn to navigate the corresponding cultures that are accessed through those languages. The Global Studies minor encourages knowledge of societies and their cultures around the world, both through courses with a strong global content on campus as well as international experiences.
The Global Studies minor is administered by an interdepartmental committee composed of the chairs of the foreign language departments: M. Williams (Classics), C. Roberts (Germanic and Asian Languages), V. DeVries (French), and D. TenHuisen (Spanish).
