FA. This course introduces students to the experience of first-generation college students. It begins with an overview of demographic trends and common experiences of first-generation students. That overview is then compared to student stories and their own. Along the way, the class will engage how the hidden curriculum along with the intersectionality of race and class impact the first-generation experience. Students finish this reading- and discussion-based course by implementing a final project to aid future first-generation students.
