ARTS 386 - Global Perspectives in Graphic Design (2) WI. This international study course will immerse students in the world of graphic design through a lens of cultural exploration, artistic intervention, and collaborative engagement. Participants will explore the theme of embeddedness—how graphic design interacts with culture, space, and history—while also engaging in creative artistic interventions that transform or challenge these environments. Through exploration, research, and collaboration with local artists, designers, educators, and communities, students will develop a deep understanding of global context for design. This course will allow students to not only hone their individual design skills but also collaborate in a cross-cultural environment to push the boundaries of graphic design as an art form. The subsequent spring course, ARTS 387 , will produce a final exhibition showcasing the collective works of the student participants. Prerequisite(s): ARTS 355 or approval of the instructor. Course fee: varies.
