SP, alternate years. Students will deepen their knowledge of musical traditions, attending to the social contexts that shape and animate different artistic forms and practices. Music will be explored as a mode of artistic expression and a creative means of problem-solving related to societal needs and values. Iterations of the course will work to cultivate listening as a form of discernment for understanding communities as well as ourselves more fully. Prerequisite(s): HNRS 103.
