POLS 353 - Applied Econometrics

(4)
SP, alternate years. This course builds on applied econometric methods and introduces advanced econometric methods. Emphasis on evaluating the quality of available information, developing theory-directed models, conducting original research, and interpreting and critically evaluating the published work of others. Topics include the classical linear regression model, heteroskedastic and autocorrelated disturbance models, logistical regression models, specification testing, simultaneous-equations and time-series models. Since econometrics is about making and evaluating empirical claims, the course considers the philosophical and theological assumptions the lie behind social research. Crosslisted as ECON 343 . Prerequisite(s): POLS 253  or ECON 243
