IDIS 285 - Christian-Muslim Interfaith Relations

WI, as needed. This course, delivered as part of an off-campus travel experience to a Muslim-majority country, offers an immersive exploration of contemporary Islam, Muslim culture, and Christian-Muslim interfaith relations. The course builds appreciative religious knowledge and cross-cultural awareness of Islam as a religion, Islamic cultural identity, and worship practices in a global setting. Learning is informed by reading and lecture, group international travel, and face-to-face interactions and intercultural and interfaith immersion, including the practice of Scriptural Reasoning. Students will leave the course equipped to develop meaningful personal relationships with Muslims and to engage in future interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding.
