HIST 153 - Explorations in World History

FA, SP. This course introduces students to world history through focused study of a particular topic or theme, chosen by the instructor of each section. Possible topics include: Slavery in World History; the History of Food; Health and Medicine in History; Science and Technology in History; Plagues and Pandemics; Big History. Every theme will span different world regions and/or time periods. Students will view the topic in distinct cultural, political, and social contexts, in both Western and non-Western world regions, and will also examine the historical processes of change and continuity.
