FA. A comparative study of Islam in its diverse regional and cultural settings, including the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and North America. Topics include the life and times of the Prophet Muhammad; the Qur’an and hadith and main categories of belief and practice; the major branches and theological fault lines; and the impact of modern colonialism and nationalism. A class excursion to a local mosque is included. Prerequisite(s): Foundations of Christianity I Core or a 200-level biblical/theological studies course.
