This interdisciplinary course examines culture care in a variety of settings from a Christian perspective, implementing broad cultural and structural dimensions to explore the “global community” in which we live today. The major focus of the course will be to increase student understanding and knowledge in the area of transcultural care by providing an opportunity for the student to be directly involved in a culture other than their own. Students will explore a variety of theoretical perspectives related to culture care and be able to implement this knowledge in the real world around them. Finally, students will explore transformative culture care that considers justice, reconciliation, and engagement in diverse cultures.
