FA, SP. With John Perkins as a role model and guide, this course will address the intersection of race, poverty, justice, the church, reconciliation, and Christian leadership in America. To this end, we will reflect on the Civil Rights movement, the life and work of John Perkins, and the nature and mission of the church in America (and the world). Also, this course contributes to Calvin’s John Perkins Leadership Fellows Program, which seeks to help students to become leaders that can address “big issues, such as poverty, injustice, racism and materialism” (taken from the JPLFP from Calvin’s website).
