This course addresses a variety of advanced topics that are important in contemporary societies (e.g., sustainability, biodiversity, health vs disease, cellular and DNA technologies, and more). Lectures, discussions, readings, and laboratory/field studies provide students with advanced conceptual knowledge and practical experiences that develop important vocational skills. Course work centers around scientific literature, investigation, and communication. Prerequisite(s): varies by topic and audience; typically, BIOL 160 BIOL 161 , or equivalent course where key concepts are introduced.
