FA, SP, as needed. Designed to be paired with another 2-semester-hour HNRS course, this course will address works of visual art with the goal of developing two skills as tied to problem solving: effective observation of artistic production and explanation of how specific works of art shape one’s place within a larger community. From year to year, the visual material will vary by media and historical periods and may include studio production. Appropriate methodological tools will be used to explore visual expression as an encounter between makers and viewers. The interdisciplinary component will attend to that expression as structured by conversations in other disciplines. Prerequisite(s): HNRS 103.
