PSYC 244 - Introduction to Biological Psychology (2) FA, SP. This course provides an introduction to the structure and function of the nervous system and the ways in which cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning are supported by brain function. Topics will include a basic introduction to the neuron and neurotransmitters as well as supporting cells in the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, functions of the main brain areas, and symptoms that emerge with brain injury to specific areas, and an introduction to the biological basis of vision, memory, language, executive functioning, and mood regulation. Additionally, application of faith integration themes to the topics of neuroscience will be integrated throughout the course. Prerequisite(s): PSYC 151 .
