We will integrate lecture with laboratory practices like isolating and culturing bacteria, identifying bacteria using molecular and chemical means, finding virulence factors using hospital lab techniques, and making foods that require microbial fermentation. A large part of the integrated lecture/lab will be a laboratory-based project that students will conceive as teams. Corequisite(s): BIOL 336. Lab fee: $170.
