FA, alternate years. This course provides an introduction to the visual arts of Japan. The course focuses on the production of pictures, objects, gardens, and buildings in Japan, with an emphasis on aesthetic categories and sensibilities. The course ends with an extended exploration of contemporary Japanese art. Not offered in 2023-24.
