HNRS 103 - Foundations in Biblical Literature and Theology (4) SP. This course provides an introduction to the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. The goal of the course is to equip students to interpret biblical writings in a rigorous and sophisticated manner, with attention to the historical context (author, audience, purpose) of each text as well as the theological, ethical, and spiritual questions—about the nature of God, humanity, morality, and evil—that each text raises. This class will explore the spiritual richness and theological depth of the Bible but will also wrestle with some of the difficult issues raised by the text. Prerequisite(s): HNRS 100 .
