COMM 322 - Advanced Calvin Media Company (1) FA, SP. Through careful study and practice of informal logic and rhetoric, students will become effective advocates, opponents, and decision makers in any argument context. The course is a study and application of basic principles of argumentation and advocacy. This course focuses on the dynamics of oral argument-ethical dimensions, use of language, informal logic, use of evidence and appeals, structure, and interactions with other arguments. Through analysis and practice, students will learn not only how to argue within academic contexts but also how to apply argumentative reasoning to everyday communication. Prerequisite(s): permission of the instructor.
