FA, SP. A study of fundamental principles of mechanics and their application to the problems of engineering. Vector algebra, forces, moments, couples, friction, virtual work, kinematics of a particle, kinematics of a rigid body, dynamics of particles and rigid bodies, impulse, momentum, work, and energy are presented in two and three dimensions. Prerequisite(s): PHYS 133 and MATH 172.
