FA, alternate years. Advanced exploration of questions about knowledge, meaning, language, and interpretation in conversation with the pragmatist tradition. Engaging Wittgenstein, Elizabeth Anscombe, Richard Rorty, Cornel West, and Robert Brandom, the course analyzes knowledge as dependent on communities of practice. Prerequisites: One philosophy course and junior or senior standing. Not offered in 2022-23.
