DATA 303 - Advanced Modeling and Visualization

SP. In this course, students will apply advanced modeling techniques and visualization tools. Students will select problems from domain areas, collect and manage data related to their problems, apply appropriate modeling techniques, use visualization tools to extract new knowledge and insights from their data, and give presentations on their discoveries. Students will use free and commercial visualization tools, and learn about their tradeoffs. The course will also explore social, ethical, legal, and professional issues that arise in collecting, storing and analyzing data, using case studies and discussions informed by a reformed, Christian perspective. Prerequisites: CS 112 , DATA 202 , and STAT 245 , or permission of the instructor. (Advanced students in computer science or statistics are encouraged to seek the permission of the instructor.) Lab fee: $15.
