This course focuses on a particular period or movement in European history within either the early modern period (c. 1500-1789) or the modern period (since 1789). The specific content will vary from year to year. Past topics have included the Italian Renaissance, international Calvinism, imperial Spain, nationalism and communism in Eastern Europe, and the history of Christianity in 20th-century Europe. Topics for upcoming semesters are advertised by the Historical Studies department. Not offered in 2022-23.
