FA, SP. This course explores human communities as they interact with the natural environment and with other communities. Attention is focused on the spatial patterns and cultural landscapes created through economic activities and as expressions of cultural values. Students learn methods of geographic research including mapping, landscape interpretation, and integrated place studies. Theoretical frameworks and models help students understand patterns of migration, settlement, land use, agriculture, industry, religion, language, ethnicity, and territorial control.
