SP, alternate years. Soils studied as engineering materials whose behavior is dependent upon soil types, index properties, and soil moisture conditions. The scope of the course includes soil structures, index properties, soil classification, permeability, compressibility and consolidation, soil testing, soil stresses, and foundation design. Laboratory experiments are used to emphasize principles. Prerequisite: ENGR 305. Not offered 2022-23.
