SP, alternate years. A study of the historical development of western dance from early lineage-based societies in Europe to contemporary forms in European and North American cultures. Emphasis is placed upon the development of dance as a performing art. The course investigates parallel trends in the arts of music, visual art, drama, and dance throughout western history. Satisfies university core in the arts.
